Detectives to Canvass Bladensburg Neighborhood in Homicide Investigation

This evening, Homicide Unit detectives will canvass a Bladensburg neighborhood where a fatal shooting took place on Monday. The victim is 26-year-old Erik Kelly of Pemberell Place in District Heights. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case. Preliminarily, detectives do not believe this was a random act.

On August 1st, at about 12:30 pm, officers with the Bladensburg Police Department were called to the 4600 block of Red Hawk Terrace for a shooting. When they arrived, officers found the victim outside in a parking lot suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives are working to identify a motive and the suspect(s). The canvass is set to begin at 6:00 pm in the 4600 block of Red Hawk Terrace.
