PGPD to Educate Drivers About Preventing Gas Station Thefts

They are crimes of opportunity and are often preventable. A driver is pumping gas and a thief targets their car. The thief quietly opens a door and snatches a valuable item that’s out in plain view. In these cold winter months, criminals also target cars which owners are warming up and leave unattended. Within seconds, the suspect has driven off in the car.

The number of thefts from cars is down 30% countywide so far this year. The PGPD is committed to lowering that number even more, in part by working with our community on prevention. On Tuesday, District II COPS officers will educate morning commuters about these crimes and how best to prevent them.

When:   Tuesday, January 20, 2015

Time:     7:00 am

Where:  Safeway Gas Station
