PGPD Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Beltsville


The Prince George's County Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision. The victim is 27-year-old Mohammed Toyin Bello of Ellington Drive in Beltsville.

On July 14, 2014, at about 4:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the 8100 block of Muirkirk Road in Beltsville for the report of a pedestrian collision. When they arrived, they found Bello lying in the roadway with critical injuries. He died several hours later at a hospital.

The preliminary investigation reveals Bello had just gotten off a bus at a bus stop and tried to cross Muirkirk Road in front of the bus. He was struck by a van heading westbound on Muirkirk Road. The driver remained on scene. He was not hurt. Bello was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.
