PGPD Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Forestville


The Prince George's County Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision. The victim is identified as 63-year-old James Hughes, of the 3300 block of Springdale Avenue in Forestville.

On July 4, 2014, at about 9:15 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Forestville Road for the report of a pedestrian collision. When they arrived, they found Hughes lying in the roadway with critical injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene. 

The preliminary investigation reveals a car was traveling on Pennsylvania Avenue when it struck Hughes. The driver remained on scene.  It is believed the victim was sitting in the street prior to being run over by the striking vehicle.
