PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision in Brandywine

The Prince George's County Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Brandywine. The victim is identified as 31-year-old Knadejah Francis of Brassie Way in Gaithersburg.

On July 18, 2014, at about 5:45 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of Branch Avenue and Accokeek Road for a report of a crash involving five cars. Francis, a passenger in one of the cars, was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. She died of her injuries on July 23, 2014.

The preliminary investigation reveals the driver of a Ford Mustang tried to make an illegal left turn onto Accokeek Road from southbound Branch Avenue. A car heading northbound on Branch Avenue struck the Ford, pushing it into two cars, which were stopped at the light on westbound Accokeek Road. One of the stopped cars was pushed into a fifth car, also stopped at the light.

The driver of the Ford was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. None of the other drivers or passengers was hurt.
