PGPD Investigates Fatal Collision in Upper Marlboro

The Prince George's County Police Department's Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal collision in Upper Marlboro. The victim is 34-year-old Jeffrey Shackelford of Lord Fairfax Court in Upper Marlboro.

On July 12, 2014, at about 8:50 pm, patrol officers were called to the intersection of John Rodgers Boulevard and Lords Landing Road for the report of a crash involving a motorcycle. When they arrived, they found Shackelford suffering from critical injuries. He was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later.

The preliminary investigation reveals Shackelford was heading westbound on John Rodgers Boulevard, when for reasons which remain unclear, he left the roadway and struck a tree.

Investigators are looking into whether speed was a factor in this crash.
