Media Advisory: PGPD to Conduct Second Canvass of Bowie Neighborhood in Murder Investigation

Detectives will conduct a second canvass this evening in connection with the murder earlier today in Bowie. The victim is 39-year-old Amir Ali Jr., of the 9900 block of Chessington Way in Bowie.

On July 31, 2014, around 5:45 am, patrol officers were called to the 9900 block of Chessington Way for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found Ali suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside his home. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Preliminarily, this appears to be a drug-related murder. Detectives do not believe this was a random shooting.

Detectives are looking for at least two suspects in this case.
