Prince George's County Police Family to Family Event - Langley Park

On Saturday, November 12th, 2011, the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Community Services Division in conjunction with the District I Community Oriented Policing Squad A Sector and Community Outreach Development, Inc. (501c3) will present the Family to Family event at the District I COPS Satellite Office located at 8011 New Hampshire Ave, Langley Park, Maryland from 10 am – 4 pm. The event consists of a thrift store where members of the Prince George’s County community can come and purchase new and gently used clothing, shoes, toys, books and other miscellaneous items with no item costing more than $10. Information on job training, image consulting, GED training, discount dental benefits, Neighborhood Watch and other departmental programs will also be provided.

Donations for the event are being accepted at the Community Services Division Office located at 805 Brightseat Rd, Landover, Maryland 20785. All proceeds are tax deductible and donators will receive a receipt noting their contribution.

In addition to accepting items of clothing and shoes, we are also collecting money for our “Desperate Dollars” fund which is a fund that we have set up so that if there is a family that would like to make purchases at the event but they do not have money for it, payment can be made from the Desperate Dollars fund so that family can be serviced. All proceeds will be divided equally among Community Outreach Development, Inc and the police department to assist families in need and the Police Explorers program county wide.

For more information, please contact Sgt. Lisa Muhammad of the Community Services Division at 240-354-9803 or lmmuhammad@co.pg.md.us .
