Police Seek Information in Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision in College Park

Prince George’s County, Maryland…The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit (CARU) is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in College Park, Maryland.

On September 18, 2011, at approximately 3:25 a.m., patrol officers responded to University Boulevard at Baltimore Avenue for a call of a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, patrol officers found a 30 year old male suffering from trauma consistent with a vehicle collision. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed the victim was walking in the road way before the time of impact. The unknown vehicle, traveling westbound on University Boulevard, struck the victim and fled the scene without stopping and rendering assistance. The unknown vehicle is described as a Red Honda with damage to its left door mirror. Additional evidence recovered at the site of the collision has lead to investigators discovering the victim was also struck by a second vehicle which also did not stop at the scene.

CARU investigators are seeking information regarding both striking vehicles or information from anyone who may have witnessed or been in the area at the time of the collision.
