Police Investigate Homicide in Capitol Heights

Prince George’s County Maryland… The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the murder of Jasmine Jerona Banks, 20, who died this afternoon from injuries she sustained from a gunshot wound in Capitol Heights, Maryland.


On August 8, 2011, at approximately 2:44 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 7900 block of Central Avenue for the report of a shooting. When the officers arrived, they found Banks, of the 6500 block of Insey Street, District Heights, Maryland, and another male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. Banks was transported to a local hospital where she was admitted in critical condition. She was pronounced deceased this afternoon as a result from her injuries. The male victim was also transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and establish a motive in this case.
